Vehicle into a Dwelling - Elizabeth Twp

20:36 hrs Township Fire was alerted for a vehicle into a dwelling with possible entrapment and smoke showing. 140 Chief arrived on scene reporting a passenger car into the "Alpha/Delta" side of the dwelling, driver out walking around appeared to be uninjured. Command also reported heavy structural damage and a significant natural gas leak. Rescue 4 and Rescue 7 arrived almost simultaneously deploying protection lines and checking for additional hazards or patients. Crews attempted to control the utilities however was unable to secure the gas because of a damaged service meter. Dominion Gas was notified and requested to the scene as soon as possible, when the gas representative arrived he reported that he was unable to secure the leak because the vehicle was sitting on the curb key. Crews maintained 2 foam lines deployed and ready in case of explosion until a service crew could arrive with a backhoe and saw to secure the line. Crews made entry into the house and verified that nobody was in the dwelling however reported levels of LEL. After standing by on scene for several hours while Dominion secured the gas leak crews were finally able to remove the vehicle and shore the dwelling until a disaster restoration company could assess the damage. The American Red Cross was on scene to assist the resident with temporary housing.
