Vehicle Crash w/ Trap - Elizabeth Twp.
Sat. Aug 22nd 2009

1541 hrs. Twp. Fire was alerted to Round Hill Rd. at Rt. 48 for the MVC w/ trap. EMS arrived and confirmed the dispatch and requested the rescue expedite. 140 Asst. 7B arrived with a 2 vehicle crash, 1 full sized SUV on its side, with 1 trapped. The Round Hill Rd. Command was established and rescue crews went to work. The winch off the front of the rescue was deployed for a rapid stabilization, along with the Air Shores, and cribbing. Once the vehicle was stable and battery d/c, crews utilized the hydraulic cutters, air chisel, and saws-all to partially flap the roof to access the trapped pt (X1). E2 arrived and was ordered to pull an 1.75" protection line to the vehicle. R4 arrived and assisted w/ the disentanglement using their hydraulic cutters and saws-all also. EMS had inside rescuer capacity. PT was semi-conscious during the extrication process and EMS requested aeromedical transport. 140 RE2 handled the LZ at EF High School for Stat Medevac, R3 remained in quarters for the fill. SQ7 assisted at the LZ and E7 assisted at the scene. Good access to the patient was made and rescue crews assisted EMS with pt removal. Pt was secured to a long spine board w/ all accessories and removed from the vehicle. Crews remained on scene until the tows uprighted the vehicle, removed the 2nd vehicle, and the roadway was able to be reopened.  All units were placed back in service and the Round Hill Command was terminated.
